Origins of Persequī: A Call to Memory
The Persequī dance film took root in November 2020, amidst the surge of protests in Los Angeles, California, following the murder of George Floyd. In the charged atmosphere of the streets, as voices rose in collective outcry, I felt something awaken within me, memories buried deep in my subconscious and body, surfacing in response to the moment. This visceral activation propelled me into a profound investigation of historical events that have left marks on societies across generations.
I turned my focus to Argentina, my country of origin, centering my research on the dictatorship of 1976-1983, a period of immense violence that fractured the nation’s social fabric. At the heart of this inquiry was the concept and experience of collective memory and its embodiment. The body became a clear vessel that contained history, generational information, trauma, and knowledge. The body itself became an archive, a living testament to the past. Movement became a means of expression of such information, subtle and subconscious.

Movement as Memory and Expression
Improvisation guided by research formed the foundation of my choreographic methodology. Every gesture, every interaction with space, was informed by a deep engagement with memory. The landscapes, in turn, became co-authors of the work, offering new layers of meaning and enriching the embodied exploration of memory.
A Bridge Between Past and Present
Through Persequī, movement becomes a medium for remembrance, a bridge between past and present, and a means of interrogating the unseen forces that shape our collective existence.
