Didyo

A Dance of Transformation
The Process of Unstoppable Transformation
Performed by the students of the Centre Chorégraphique Multicorps, Didyo is a choreographic creation that embodies movement, evolution, and shared experience. Under the artistic direction of Cecilia Slongo, this piece was developed as part of her Fulbright scholarship project in 2023, exploring the deep and complex nature of change.
A Journey Through Movement
Premiering at the U.S. Embassy of Cotonou and the 2023 edition of Festival Connexion, Didyo became a living exploration of transformation. Over the course of nine months, students and choreographer engaged in an intensive process of learning, exchanging perspectives, and embracing challenges. Each rehearsal was an opportunity to push beyond boundaries, stepping into the unknown and redefining artistic expression.
Throughout this journey, movement became a reflection of personal and collective evolution. The dancers confronted their limitations, adapted to new dynamics, and discovered a deeper connection with themselves and each other. From moments of uncertainty to breakthroughs of clarity, Didyo captured the essence of transformation through the body’s expressive power.
Dance as a Universal Language
Didyo is more than a performance; it is a testament to resilience, adaptation, and the beauty of change in motion. Through dance, it speaks a universal language—one that transcends borders and unites individuals in the shared experience of growth. Every movement, every shift in energy, tells a story of courage, openness, and the willingness to embrace transformation as an ongoing journey.
Choreographed and produced by Cecilia Slongo, Didyo was interpreted by the dedicated students of the Centre Chorégraphique Multicorps.
