Get to know me

Cecilia is an artist deeply rooted in the philosophy of coexistence, focusing on understanding our humanity as a complex part of a delicate global balance. Growing up with a close relationship with nature and the environment allowed her to develop a deep sense of interdependence and integration, which has influenced her creative voice. As the Argentine daughter of Italian immigrants seeking a politically progressive society, Cecilia inherited a strong political awareness that continues to shape her creative and personal worldview. As a multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, dancer, and choreographer, she is dedicated to exploring the possibilities and potentials of dance creation from a perspective that embraces diversity. Her work advocates for a world of harmonious coexistence, where political engagement serves as a force for positive change and equity.

Cecilia began dancing Tango in Argentina during her initial dance training. In 2010, she moved to California, USA, where she continued her dance studies. Her formal studies took place at Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Santa Monica College, and the University of California, Riverside. Cecilia graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree in Dance Making from the University of California, Riverside in 2021. During that year, she created a dance film Persequī, exploring collective memory and how it reproduces in the body. Persequī was screened at numerous film festivals, such as the Exeter International Dance Film Festival (UK 2022), the Toronto International Women’s Film Festival (Canada 2021), the Berlin International Art Film Festival (Germany 2021), the Sans Souci International Film Festival (USA 2021), and AWARD (Serbia 2021).

Cecilia has danced for Los Angeles-based dance companies, including Afro Peruvian Experience, Viver Brasil Dance Company (2021-2023), ELWAH Dance and Research Company (2020-2022), Ocandeniye Dance Company (2021), and Souly Dance Arts (2015-2021).

In 2022, Cecilia received the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to conduct open research while exchanging and teaching dance and film in Cotonou, Benin. The grant project took place at the Choreographic Center Multicorps from February to December 2023. During this time, Cecilia created two dance films, Kaleta and Ansenuzas, with local dancers, collaborators, and musicians. She also created an interdisciplinary piece, Didyo, presented at Festival Connexion (2023). The piece was created with dancers from the Choreographic Center Multicorps.

Her latest work “Les Voix du Guèlèdé” was selected for the residency “Benin’s Inspiration: at the Heart of the African Worlds” (Benin, 2024-2025), launched by the French Embassy in Cotonou and the French Institute of Benin.

Cecilia is also a Yoga practitioner and teacher. She obtained a National Certification in 2021. Her interest for wellness and somatic practices lead her to train and get certified in assisted stretching, a tool that she utilizes with clients, in her teachings and dance practices.
